![]() ![]() Whether or not this relates to my particular model of card and/or OS version (Windows 8 64-bit Release Preview), I don't know. It appears, for whatever reason, the latest version(s) of catalyst drivers will not install the necessary HDMI audio driver for the 7770 graphics card. If anybody else is having issues I will reiterate the precise steps I followed to solve the problem: Well I managed to solve the problem thanks to Steyr's link to the thread that Bart666 posts a solution. I'm fairly certain this isn't related to my receiver as I've used it with a laptop running Win7 via HDMI and had no problems getting 5.1. I can't see how, but is there any way in which this could impact upon the driver installation for the HDMI on my graphics card? One thought is, I have disabled onboard audio. I wonder, why then, the 3rd party catalyst/realtek drivers don't appear to be installing over the MS one. ![]() I've tried a multitude of Catalyst and Realtek drivers (Win8 +Win7, including the one mentioned by josephdebono) but whatever happens, I always seem to end up with the default Microsoft driver for the 'HDMI Audio Device', and as a result just the option to use 2 speakers. I've been trying for days to try and resolve this but no luck as of yet. I recently completed a custom gaming HTPC build and am running audio from an Asus AMD 7770 over HDMI to a Sony STR DH800 receiver using Win 8 64-bit release preview. A fellow sufferer from the same 'stereo only' option via hdmi here. ![]()
